The
Marriage Bargain
Nominated
for a Romantic Times BOOKclub 2005 Reviewers' Choice Award for Best
Regency-set Historical
The
Marriage Bargain: Handsome soldier Spencer Keenan and timid country
girl Emma Chambers agree to a wedding in name only, rescuing Emma
from his uncle’s unwanted suit and providing her the home she desperately
desires. After Spence leaves for war, however, Emma’s idyllic life
is soon transformed into worry and toil, caring for his crumbling
estate. Her youthful romantic fantasy that he will return to make
their marriage real is quickly dispelled.
Now Spence has returned,
but in a coffin, struck down in a duel. Needing to look upon his
face one last time, Emma narrowly saves him from being buried alive.
In return she seeks a new marriage bargain from Spence – to give
her a child. While Spence battles haunting memories and unknown
treachery, the one thing he doesn't bargain for is falling deeply
in love with his now valiant and captivating wife.

Growing
up the daughter of an Army Colonel, Diane Perkins (also known
Diane Gaston) moved frequently,
but books remained constant friends.
Diane’s
love of reading led to her majoring in English in college, but
careerwise she took a detour, earning Master’s degrees in both
Psychology and Social Work, and working as a county mental health
therapist. Whenever asked what would be her ideal job, Diane used
to quip, “Writing Romance Novels.”
She
actually did that very thing, even winning the 2003 Romance Writers
of America® Golden Heart® for The Mysterious
Miss M by Diane Gaston, her debut novel. She now writes
Regency Historical Romance full-time as Diane Perkins for Warner
Forever and as Diane Gaston for Mills & Boon/Harlequin Historical.
