Daring
the Highlander
In
the glorious Scottish Highlands of Robert the Bruce, an independent
young widow faces a difficult challenge: can she help an unlikely
leader bring honor and prosperity back to their clan ~ without losing
her own cautious heart?
Ailig MacLeod returns
to Assynt Castle with a heavy task. As penance for his oldest son's
attempted treachery against the king, Ailig's father must step down
as chief of the clan ~ and Ailig is to take his place. There are
elders to appease, a competing clan to ward off, and the castle
itself is in shambles. Ailig enlists the beautiful widow Morainn
MacRailt to help him pull the keep back together, and her counsel
soon becomes as invaluable to him as her presence is intoxicating.
Only the two of them, working together, can save the clan from being
set to fire and sword. But their partnership reawakens feelings
in Morainn she swore she'd never hold again...
Daring
the Highlander is the sequel to Ms. Wittig’s May, 2004
book, Charming the Shrew.

Laurin Wittig, award winning,
over-educated author and recovering computer geek, loves exploring
the world of medieval Scotland, delving into her Scottish roots,
digging into the history she shunned in college and generally indulging
her enthusiasm for learning about other cultures. Add to that her
love of the romance genre and a passion for writing and voila, several
novels have been born.
Her
debut novel, The Devil of Kilmartin
(Jove, Sept. 2002) won the National Readers' Choice Award for best
short historical. Her latest release is Charming
the Shrew (Berkley Sensation, May 2004), an "exhilarating
Highlands adventure".
